Founded in 2017 by the Elder family, a father and his two sons, Finca El Dorado produces meticulous high elevation lots in partnership with CVM.
The Elder family and CVM
Finca El Dorado was founded in 2017 by the Elder family, a father and his two sons, who were drawn to Loja for its potential to grow truly outstanding specialty coffee and to work closely with the surrounding community of farmers. Their idea was simple: do the work properly, invest in the land, and build something that lasts.
From day one, El Dorado has been shaped by “mountain coffee” knowledge developed over generations, paired with modern and Indigenous farming principles focused on long term soil health and a thriving ecosystem. The farm also supports stable employment and, where needed, housing, aiming for a reciprocal relationship with local growers through shared practices and learning.
El Dorado is produced in partnership with ChocoVilcamundo (CVM), the team behind some of Ecuador’s most exciting high elevation lots. CVM is owned and led by Bernard Uhe and his coffee growing family, whose roots trace back to generations of coffee farming in Colombia, and who work alongside Ecuadorian partners deeply familiar with Loja’s terrain and microclimates.
This partnership connects hands on farm stewardship with serious processing and quality ambition. El Dorado and its sister farm, Finca Eliza, are selected for the elevation, rich soils, and unique moisture conditions of southern Ecuador, and the results have shown up on the competition stage, including Cup of Excellence Ecuador placements for Gesha Verde.
